VictoriaUnited.Com Re-Launch a Success
Tuesday February 5, 2008
VICTORIA - Early this morning a new day dawned for VictoriaUnited.com with the unveiling of the redesigned website. Created to build an interactive community in support of the Pacific Coast Soccer League (PCSL) defending champions Victoria United F.C., VictoriaUnited.com uses Web 2.0 to connect fans with the club.
A cornerstone of the club's communication strategy, VictoriaUnited.com is only part of the excitement for Victoria United. The 2008 season marks the return to United's traditional home after the success of the FIFA U-20 2007 World Cup at Royal Athletic Park. In combination with local print and broadcast media, VictoriaUnited.com will give fans complete coverage of the teams in both the PCSL Premier Division and the PCSL Reserve (U21) Division.
Starting with a fresh new look the new VictoriaUnited.com features news feeds from the PCSL and the wider soccer world alongside information on the upcoming season including season tickets, schedules, and everything a fan needs to know to make an afternoon at RAP a success. Club rosters and results for the senior and U21 teams will be added as the season gets underway. Interactive features will also be added as the new season approaches allowing fans to participate like never before.
VictoriaUnited.com is the oldest and strongest club website in the PCSL having first gone online officially in 1998. Ten years later, after several different looks, the new design by consultant Jason Gillett is earning positive reviews. "The website is absolutely amazing," said Marketing & Media Manager Mark deFrias. "Jason has taken our wishes and turned them into a web site we know will please all our fans, and be the envy to all the other clubs in the PCSL."
After it's absence in the last incarnation of the website, historical and archival material is being brought back so that fans can explore the rich history of United dating back to the first team to play under that name in 1904. It is hoped that the new format will also make it easier for more former players, staff and fans from years gone by to contribute their memories of the club and soccer in the Capitol Region.
Victoria United open the 2008 regular season at Royal Athletic Park against the Vancouver Whitecaps Prospects on Saturday, May 10. Season tickets are now on sale, only $40. Call 250.477.9642 or CLICK HERE for more information.
